PUSH SWITCH
Push switches differ from tactile switches in that they come in self-locking and momentary varieties. Self-locking switches are typically used for sustained and long-term signaling, staying closed until a second press releases them.
Self-locking button switches feature a mechanism with a latch or metal hook that slides along an asymmetric heart-shaped groove when the button is pressed. The two tips of the heart-shaped groove correspond to the switch's lock and release positions, and the mechanism repeats the locking and releasing action back and forth.
